Five Ways To Brighten Your Day.

Some days, I wake up and feel sad for no reason. Some days my anxiety takes hold and ruins my morning; it's actually the worst. On those days it can really be hard to get out of bed or be productive. Anyone else ever have days like those?

Whenever this happens, I try to think of what makes me happy and what blessings I have in life. I know for some people this won't cure the problem, but it can definitely lighten your mood when you take time to do things that bring you joy! Today I wanted to share a few things that brighten my day, and maybe they can help you too.

1. Morning Devotions. I don't always make the time to sit down and read my Bible, but I really should. When I wake up in a bad mood or feeling at a loss, reading God's promises and words over my life can really help! Here are a few verses that always encourage me:

Hebrews 12:2 "We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne."

Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Psalm 55:22 "Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."

2. Yoga. Starting my day with stretching and deep breathing while praying and meditating has really helped a lot lately. I know that I am practicing something good for my body and my mind! (Stay tuned for a post on a morning wakeup routine coming soon).

3. Music. I love listening to music! I am constantly creating new playlists on Spotify and texting other friends to see if they've found any new artists lately. I've made a few playlists that you can check out here as well as the newest one below!

4. Morning Brew. I simply love coffee! I love using our v60 pourover, our chemex, and our french press! I also really like waking up to the smell of coffee with our Barista Brain. On those mornings when I don't feel in a coffee mood (which is rare) I make some tea. My favorites are Blueberry Wild Child, Fruity Pebbles, and Nutty Almond Cream from Tiesta Tea.

5. Time with Loved Ones. Whether it's out to lunch, a phone call or text, or writing someone a letter I always feel better after spending time with or reaching out and connecting with one of my friends or family members. Community is super important for a healthy lifestyle and can provide the absolute best pick me up (especially on the bad days).

What are some things that bring you joy?
