Today's post is super important to Mark and I. Its all about ways that you can give back to people or families in need! Keep reading for ways on how you can give back, too!
Something that not many people know about me is that when I was a kid, my mom was single and raising my brother and I pretty much by herself for a few years. We were on welfare and food stamps and I remember the feeling of not having much and being without. I remember how great it felt to get hand-me-downs from my babysitter and when we'd get to pick snacks out in the scratch and dent store. It was hard, but I really think it shaped my view and taught me empathy and compassion.

We couldn't always buy the next best thing and while some might think that set me back, it actually shaped my view and encouraged me to give back when I can and always be ready to help others. This campaign with Gold Peak and Feeding America speaks near and dear to me! I would love to encourage my online community to step out and donate to their local food bank, because you never know who might need it!

When we heard that Gold Peak® was partnering with Feeding America to help fight hunger, we knew we wanted to jump in too. One way that we were able to contribute was by texting "GIVE" to 26739 and Gold Peak will donate $1 to Feeding America. Every $1 donated provides at least 10 meals to people in need! How great is that?

Plus, if you visit here to learn more on Gold Peak's initiative and where one can support their local Food Bank you can get a chance to receive a $1,000 donation from Gold Peak for your local food bank. 10 food banks will be selected to receive a $1,000 donation!

Mark and I spent the afternoon grabbing a few things to pack up and bring to our local Feeding America location. One thing we realized as we were picking up items however is that it can be easy to accidentally send the wrong things or something that can't be used. I'm so thankful that there is a list online of what to pack in your donation box!

To make things easy, Mark and I decided to write up a quick list of what to pack when donating to your local Feeding America center. Easy, peasy lemon squeezy.

The key to any donation box is making sure that the items are non-perishable. Shelf stable fruit juice, canned proteins like chicken or tuna, serving size mac and cheese, peanut butter, individual fruit cups, almonds, shelf stable milk, etc. When your box is packed, visit here to find your local donation center.

After packing up our box, Mark and I took a little break to refresh ourselves and then get on the road to drop off our donation at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Can I just say its been hot outside and I am so thankful that we grabbed some Gold Peak tea from Target this week. I love the Peach Tea flavor! I hope that you guys take advantage of the wonderful ways that you can give back and join Gold Peak in helping Feeding America.
