A Day Trip To NYC at Christmastime

Happy Thursday everyone! Last weekend, Mark and I went to NYC with a few friends. Just as we were arriving it began to snow. Cue music. Its the most wonderful time of the year! Seriously, it was beautiful.

We had coffee at Stumptown Coffee Roasters to start the day and then took the subway up to Central Park. I had never been to the park before, so getting to see it for the first time in a blanket of freshly fallen snow was magical! We took a few pictures near Gapstow Bridge (the one that's in like 100 romantic comedies and where Mary Jane breaks up with Peter Parker in the Tobey Maguire version of Spiderman) and then walked around a bit before heading off to Rockefeller Center to see the tree and Bryant Park to do some shopping.

By the time we got there we were all frozen to the core and the snow was beginning to turn to slush. We walked around the crowded park until we found a stand that sold cookie dough. YUM! Then we rode the subway to another area of town to escape the crowds.

Afterwards we headed to Jack's Wife Freda for lunch and it was delicious! I can't recommend it enough. They have a few locations, but we visited the one in West Village. It was also the perfect break in our day because we were freezing and wet. Our food and drinks were delicious and getting to spend time in a place that isn't crowded with tourists was great.

Next stop for the day was Bluestone Lane Coffee. It's a few shops away from Jack's Wife Freda and it has delicious food and coffee as well. (If you ever get a chance to stop by, go here for a light meal because it looked really good!) I grabbed some coffee to keep me warm as we departed for the Chelsea Market to end our day.

What about you? Have you been to NYC at Christmas time or in the freshly fallen snow? Don't you just love it?
