5 Blogging Things to Do in 2015

We're a few months in to 2015 and if you're an avid blogger or blog reader, I'm sure that you have seen posts on goals for the new year, tips on how to be more successful in 2015, and other similar topics. I've read a few myself and really been inspired to see others chasing their dreams and growing their blogs and knowledge of their passions. I've been making lists lately of things that I would love to improve on my blog and my social life altogether.

After reviewing my list and reading up on different topics, I've compiled a short and sweet, to-the-point list of things that every blogger should keep in mind as the year continues to unfold.

1. Get organized.
I definitely need to get better at this! I'm not saying that everything in your home needs to be squeaky clean and your desk or workspace needs to have everything neatly stacked and put in a drawer, but make sure you know where things are and sit in a space that has plenty of light. I really think that a well lit room can get your creative juices flowing!

2. Make a Plan.
Sometimes life gets a little chaotic and you run out of time to blog. You've got work, school, family stuff, and travel and you just lose free time and your blog takes a hit. There aren't enough hours in the day for you to get responsibilities and the fun stuff done, so you have to make a plan.  Writing blog posts a head of time can help. (That's what scheduling posts is for!) So when you have a little of free time, type up a few posts and schedule them throughout the week or month. You can also change your posting schedule from 3 times a week to just once, sort of like a "keeping readers up to date" or something like that, just until your schedule opens up again!

3. Blog About What You Love.
There's nothing worse (in my opinion) than reading a blog and feeling like the writer doesn't know what they're talking about or the post doesn't have a central theme.  It might just be hard for me to pay attention. Make sure that you like what you post, and then your readers will too! If you love writing about beauty and makeup, then do reviews and write about your routines. If you love your family or travel, then do a few posts about those topics and maybe share some stories. Your blog audience will grow when you're authentic and writing about what you love!

4. Don't Compare.
I've written several blog posts on this. It's a trap that I every so often find myself falling into and it isn't really the greatest. I would definitely encourage you to read the two posts linked here and here. Comparison is the thief of joy, and you'll never be content with your words and creativity if you constantly compare it to other people.

5. Have fun!
Use pictures and colors and tell jokes and host giveaways and tell your readers about your trip to the beach. (Be sure to keep it as you as you can and get creative!)

  1. Making a plan is something I need to work on more. I try to do all my week's posts on Sunday, but when I don't I have to scramble to get them all together. I use Hootsuite, and that really helps with social media.

  4. That's awesome Jenna! Yeah it's a daily thing for me, but it feels so good to let God have control and know that you're doing your best with what God has given you and where He's placed you right now.

  7. Hi Natalie! I love your blog! It's so great to meet you. Found you via Peony project. And I LOVE this blog post! I think that not comparing ourselves to others is key. I used to do this when I first started my blog and then I woke up and realized, I am a new blogger and am just growing! My blog will get there :) Thanks for this reminder! Have a lovely Easter! xo
