A Week in the Outer Banks, North Carolina

May 2018 // By Natalie Jean

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I was in the Outer Banks last week. We had such a relaxing time, and let me tell you it was definitely needed! Mark and I haven't been on a beach vacation in so long and we enjoyed every minute, even the one day it rained. One of the best parts about the trip was getting to spend time with my family and lounge on the beach and just get some warm sun after this crazy long winter we've had.

We drove to Duck, North Carolina on Monday and arrived just in time for dinner at Bad Bean Baja Grill. I had 1 fish taco and 1 shrimp taco and they were sooo good. The chips and salsa were fantastic as well. I feel like whenever Mark and I vacation we end up finding delicious chips and salsa. Haha!

The first day after traveling, we just relaxed on the beach for a few hours and it was perfect! My mom and I had a little picnic while the rest of the family played in the waves and tanned. Most of the goodies used to bring our food and drinks to the beach are from Urban Outfitters. I love everything about their home goods section, aside from one thing... it can get pretty pricey. This is where wikibuy comes in! Wikibuy totally helped me save money when shopping for our picnic needs! They exist to help online shoppers (uh, me) find the best deals and coupons for tons of different products and online stores. I was so happy when I found out that retailers like Urban Outfitters, Ulta, Loft, Barneys New York, Modcloth, and Tarte Cosmetics are all listed. Hello savings!

They have different rental car companies and travel retailers too, so I know where I'll be heading when we plan our next trip. A few of the items we got through our wikibuy savings were these adorable shot glasses that we used for shots of ginger/rhubarb/citrus fruit juice (soooo refreshing on the beach), the 8 oz. keep cup, and this adorable ceramic bowl with tupperware lid.

After our time on the beach we did a little shopping and then spent time with my family playing games, watching movies, swimming in the pool, and Mark worked on editing some travel vlogs.

The next two days were spent visiting museums and historical sites like the Whalehead Club, the Corolla Lighthouse, and the Wright Brothers First Flight Memorial. So much fun! One thing that I didn't know about Mark until this trip was he loves the history of flight and the Wright Brothers. Its so fun learning new things about each other, even after being married for a few years!

Friday was a long day. We drove home, stopped in Virginia to visit my dad, step-mom, and brother, and then crazy rain storms turned our 4 hour drive into an almost 6 hour drive. The next day we shot a wedding and the day after we cleaned our bedroom and attended another beautiful wedding, and now here we are- a new week filled with all the possibilities! And hopefully a nap or two.

While in the OBX Mark started vlogging again and its been so fun! I've included two of his videos below (the third and final one is on the way). Would love to hear some of your favorite vacation places. Leave them in the comments below!
