January 2018 // By Mark Gettis

I am so pumped to be a part of A Tiny Traveler Blog, creating and writing and sharing ideas with you all. I think this new team-up will be a great way, not only for Natalie and I to create and work together, but for you to have new content to read and things to learn!

So, let me start off with an introduction. My name is Mark and I am 24 years old. I grew up in Reading, Pa and met Natalie in youth group. We've been friends since about 10th grade and started dating right after high school graduation. After we got married we moved to Harrisburg because I took a job as the Creative Media Lead with the Youth Department for PennDel AG. I love my job! It not only allows me to be creative and work with some great people, but I get to invest in the lives of students at different camps, retreats, and a yearly youth convention at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa.

I also really love music. You can follow me on Spotify here, and share your favorite bands and songs in the comments below! I'm always looking for new music to check out. Currently I am really into Vulfpeck. They have such a great sound and really know their stuff!

When I was in high school I was in a band that played a couple local venues, released one album, and competed in a few years of a fine arts competition (gotta get that college scholarship money somehow!). We had a great time and I made some awesome friendships through it and occasionally still sport my band's tee out in public. Ah, the good old days. Natalie and I occasionally will lead worship at our church too, giving us a chance to not only serve but to stay involved in music, too.

Another thing about me is I love hand poured coffee. Chemex, V60, Aeropress, and Syphons are right up my alley! I love going on coffee dates with Nat on my days off, too! Trying new coffee places is one of our favorite things to do together, especially when we're traveling.

Speaking of travel, I love to do that too!  Whether across the state, country, or world, you can count me in. I've been to Africa, Spain, a handful of states, and have plans to go to Iceland before the year is over. I love getting to see different parts of the world and see how people live and experience life.

I vlog occasionally (You can check out my channel here). Nat has shared a few of my videos in past posts, our favorite being the trip to Disney with my family in 2016. We're hoping to start the videos up again, once things aren't so crazy busy with work. Currently I am in the process of wrapping up 3 weekends of Winter Retreat and planning for the event in the Giant Center at the end of March. Lots to do!

I hope that I get to share different stories, ideas, and creative content with you as the year goes on. Can't wait to meet the community surrounding A Tiny Traveler blog!
